AMPICILLIN (Omnipen®, Polycillin®, Principen®, Totacillin®) is a penicillin antibiotic. Ampicillin kills bacteria that cause infection, or stops the growth of bacteria. It treats many kinds of infections of the skin, central nervous system, heart, respiratory tract, sinuses, ear, and kidney. Ampicillin also treats some sexually transmitted disease.
METRONIDAZOLE (Metrogel®, MetroCream®, MetroLotion™, Noritate™) is an antibacterial agent. It kills or prevents the growth of certain bacteria. Metronidazole treats rosacea, also known as adult acne. It reduces redness and inflammation, and the number of pimples.
Generic drug (pl. generic drugs, short: generics) is a drug which is produced and distributed without a brand name. A generic must contain the same active ingredients as the original formulation. In most cases, it is considered bioequivalent to the brand name counterpart with respect to pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties.
