What is Ondansetron?

Ondansetron is a serotonin receptor antahonist. It is used ro relieve nausea and vomiting, especially when associated with the treatment of cancer (chemotherapy). Ondansetron is also used to prevent or treat vomiting that occurs after surgery and vomiting, and occasionally is used to treat severe vomiting during pregnancy.

Tell your doctor if any of these apply to you:

  • you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding
  • you are allergic to Ondansetron, other medicines, foods, dyes, preservatives, or other substances
  • you have liver disease

How to use:

  • Strictly follow your doctor's instructions
  • Follow the directions on the prescription label
  • Take your doses at regular intervals
  • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you can
  • Avoid taking double or extra doses

Safety issues:

  • Do not drink alcohol while taking Ondansetron

These side effects usually don't require medical attention (but you should contact your doctor if they continue or are bothersome):
  • tiredness
  • constipation or diarrhea
  • stomach pain
  • dry mouth
  • headache
  • fainting or lightheadedness

What is the shelf life of the pills?
