What is Azithromycin?

Azithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic that is used to treat different infections caused by bacterias. Azithromycin is also used to treat sexually transmitted vaginal or urinary tract infections caused by chlamidia.

Alert your doctor if any of these apply to you:
  • you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding
  • you have kidney or liver disease
  • you have pneumonia
  • you have an unusual or allergic reaction to Azithromycin, any other medicine, foods, dyes, or other substances
  • you have other chronic illness
  • you have stomach problems (especially colitis)

How to use:

  • Stricly follow your doctor's directions.
  • Take Azithromycin with full glass of water.
  • Take your doses at regular intervals.
  • Azithromycin can either be taken with or without food.
  • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember.
  • Avoid taking double or extra doses.

Safety issues:

  • If your symptoms don't improve in 2-3 days, you should contact your doctor.
  • Keep out of the sun, or wear protective clothing outdoors and use a sunscreen. Avoid using sun tanning beds or booths, or sun lamps.
  • If you get severe or watery diarrhea, don't treat yourself - contact your doctor.

  • digoxin
  • ergotamine
  • dihydroergotamine

Possible side effects:

If you experience these side effects, you should contact your doctor immediately:
  • yellowing of skin or eyes
  • dark yellow or brown urine
  • vomiting
  • difficulty breathing
  • irregular heartbeat, palpitations, or chest pain
  • severe or watery diarrhea
  • skin rash, itching
These side effects usually don't require medical attention (but you should contact your doctor if they continue or are bothersome):
  • vaginal irritation, itching or discharge
  • diarrhea
  • tiredness
  • dizziness
  • drowsiness
  • stomach pain or cramps
  • hearing loss
  • nausea
  • headache
  • increased sensitivity to the sun

What is the shelf life of the pills?
