What is oseltamivir?

Oseltavimir is an antiviral medication. It is used to treat infections caused by the two most common flu viruses. Oseltavimir decreases the lenght of time you experience symptoms of the flu by 1-2 days. It is aslo used to reduce the risk of flu spreading.

Tell your doctor if any of these apply to you:

  • you are pregnant, planning to become pregnent, or are breast-feeding
  • you are allergic to oseltavimir, any other medication, foods, dyes, preservatives, or any other substances
  • you have decreased kidney function
  • you have lungs disease
  • you have heart disease
  • you have liver disease

How to use:

  • strictly follow your doctor's instructions
  • oseltavimir may be taken either with or without food
  • usually, it is taken two times per day for five days

Safety issues:

  • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose (within 2 hours), take only that dose and continue with your regular schedule, spacing doses evenly
  • Do not take double or extra doses
  • finish treatment course, even if you start to feel better

  • coughing
  • headache
  • dizziness
  • difficulty sleeping

What is the shelf life of the pills?

  • The expiry date is mentioned on each blister. It is different for different batches. The shelf life is 2 years from the date of manufacture and would differ from batch to batch depending on when they were manufactured.
