What is Levothyroxine?

Levothyroxine is a thyroid hormone. It is used to treat low thyroid activity and to treat or supress different types of goiters. Sometimes it is used with surgery and other medicines for managing certain types of thyroid cancer.

Tell your doctor if any of these apply to you:

  • pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding
  • angina
  • an unusual or allergic reaction to Levothyroxine, other medicines, foods, dyes, preservatives, or other substances
  • previuos heart attack
  • diabetes
  • dieting or on a weight loss program
  • heart disease
  • low levels of pituitary hormone
  • high blood pressure

How to use:

  • Strictly follow your doctor's instructions
  • Follow the directions on the prescription label
  • Take your doses at regular intervals
  • Do not stop taking Levothyroxine until you are told so by your doctor
  • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you can
  • Avoid taking double or extra doses

What is the shelf life of the pills?
