What is Ketoconazole?

Ketoconazol is medication, which belongs to antifungals. It is used to treat serious fungal infections of the skin and nails, fungal infections throughout thó whole body, yeast infections of the mouth, throat and escophagus.

Tell your doctor if any of these apply to you:

  • you are taking as midozalam, triazolam, cisapride or astemizole
  • you are taking antacids, stomach ulcer medications, or stomach acid reducers
  • you have achlorhydia (decreased stomach acid production)
  • you have liver or kidney disease
  • you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or are breast-feeding

How to use:

  • Strictly follow your doctor's instructions
  • take each dose of ketoconazole with full glass of water
  • Take ketoconazole regularly

Safety issues:

Ketoconazole may cause dizziness or drowsiness. Avoid driving, operating machinery, or performing other tasks, that require mental alertness, until you know how ketoconazole affects you. Do not drink alcohol while taking ketozonazole. It may lead to an unpleasant consequences.

  • medications for stomach ulcers and other stomach problems
  • isoniazid
  • medications for movement abnormalities as in Parkinson's disease, or for gastrointestinal problems
  • medications for lowering cholesterol (eg, simvastin, lovastin, or atorvastin)

Possible side effects:

If you experience these side effects, you should contact your doctor immediately:
  • dark urine
  • pale stools
  • unusual fatigue
  • yellowing of skin or eyes
  • abdominal pain
  • difficlty breathing
  • hives
  • closing of the throat
  • swelling of the lips, tongue, or face
These side effects usually don't require medical attention (but you should contact your doctor if they continue or are bothersome):
  • itching
  • nausea
  • vomiting
  • diarrhea
  • dizziness
  • drowsiness
  • headache

What is the shelf life of the pills?

  • The expiry date is mentioned on each blister. It is different for different batches. The shelf life is 2 years from the date of manufacture and would differ from batch to batch depending on when they were manufactured.
